NASA Recordings – The Sound of the Universe

Mysterious sounds recorded in outer space, from the haunting sounds of Saturn and its rings to the dark heartbeat of a black hole…
Audible transmission from Saturn, the Interstellar shrieking, song of oscillation of the magnetic field (variations of the magnetic frequency), comet warbling series of clicks and growls, extreme weather sounds from the storms and lightings of Jupiter, binary star system (what a name for a band!) GRS1915+105 aka star feeding a nearby black hole – the pair creates a space geyser of staggering power. In a speed up recording the black hole’s infrared jets pulse like a dark heartbeat.

NASA Voyager Recordings – Symphonies Of The Planets 3 (1992)

Fantastic recording from the space flights of Voyager I & II launched in 1977. The true ambient space sounds that come from electronic vibrations of the planets, moons and rings, electromagnetic fields of the planets and moons, planetary magnetosphere, trapped radio waves bouncing between the planet and the inner surface of it’s atmosphere, charged particle interactions of the planet, it’s moons and the solar wind, and from charged particle emissions from the rings of certain planets. All sounds are space sounds, there are no engine sounds from the spaceprobes.
