7Midnights Physical Research is dedicated to the exploration of 7 social issues: Class, Education, Ability, Sexuality, Race, Age, Gender. Each of the Midnight series will cover two or more than three topics of these social issues through dance and music. Art develops our sense of perspective and dimensionality both physically and metaphorically. It took artists until the invention of lenses to find three-dimensional perspective in paintings and as we develop ourselves and our tools, our perception of perspective continues to evolve. Meanwhile our own collective sense of perspective is going through a shift as the world restricts movement.
This quarantine period of isolation in a way transformed us all into artists-in-residence, who are doing a durational performance that examines the notion of time. Our homes have transformed into galleries, offices, bars, and cultural venues. My home has become an interactive, interchangeable installation of an art/dance studio, classroom, restaurant, and an exclusive lounge.
I am thinking what it takes to heal from such traumatic experiences and what we as artists need to do to support our personal and collective healing. For me personally healing is an ongoing multidisciplinary art practice that I am involved in daily.
